Wakefield Music Collective are pleased to announce the 21st birthday of Clarence Park Festival, the longest running community-supported FREE Music Festival in Yorkshire!
Clarence Park Music Festival 2012 will take place on the weekend of 28th-29th July 2012 at Clarence Park Bandstand, Denby Dale Road, Wakefield.
Depending on the weather, there can be over 5000 people attending throughout the course of the weekend (and even when it’s been raining we’ve had a couple of thousand!).
On 17th June we announced the lineup for the Bandstand Stage and the Ossett Brewery Stage:
- Saturday: Red Riding Quartet, Blind Dead McJones Band, The Jar Family, Scott Anthony Wainwright, Hamerex, By Polaroid, The Brompton Mix, More Than You’ll Ever Know, Freedom Of The City
- Sunday: The Incredible Magpie Band, Jery At Controls, MBT, Pegging Leaves, Mummy Short Arms, Boomin’, Benjamin Bloom, The Soul Circle Gang, Benson
If you’ve got somewhere you can print and display a poster, go look here to download posters for home printing – the more promo the better! We can also deliver you some A3, A4 or A5 posters (or pick them up from the Town Hall if you give us advance notice).
The Festival ground is at Clarence Park Bandstand, Denby Dale Road, Wakefield, WF2 8DF.
Free parking available on-site, please follow the signposts and use the car park entrance on Lawefield Lane. Please don’t use the Holmfield Arms car park or the usual park carpark off Denby Dale Roundabout as it is restricted and you may get fined/clamped by the park authorities.
Buses pass the festival site regularly – the 128, 436, 443, 444 and 446 pass the festival site on Denby Dale Road (get off near the Queens Arms pub) or get off on Horbury Road using the 119, 126 or 127 and walk through Thornes Park.
Food & Drink
We are pleased to announce the return of the Ossett Brewery Tent with a CAMRA real-ale bar serving locally-brewed ales. Ossett Brewery will have a special Clarence 21 Festival Ale on-sale which will only be available from the festival itself!
There are also several stalls and trailers serving a variety of food and drink.
You are of course welcome to bring your own picnic to the park, but please remember to bring a binbag for your rubbish. Strictly no barbeques.
Some trader pitches may still be available – if you wish to bring your concession to Clarence please see our Trader Information page.
Camping & Hotels
No overnight stay is allowed on the festival site.
Experience Wakefield has a list of hotels and campsites near to the showground, the closest being Holmfield House Premier Inn. Others nearby include Park House Hotel (15 minutes walk), Hotel Campanile (15 minutes walk), Cedar Court Hotel (short cab ride), and The Chasleigh Hotel (20 minutes walk).
We couldn’t hold Clarence Music Festival without the generosity of our sponsors and funding organisations.
If you run a local business please consider sponsoring us, even if it’s just a small advert in the programme. We have a variety of pre-pack sponsorship opportunities stretching from simple banner-on-the-stage up to full supporting media.
You can find out more by taking a look at our Festival Sponsorship page.
Clarence Music Festival is run by volunteer stewards who do everything from shepherding bands and selling programmes, to manning the carpark and litterpicking! We can never get enough stewards for the event, so if you think you can donate just a couple of hours of your time on the Saturday or Sunday please drop us a line. You can find out more about volunteer stewarding here – top fun in a hi-viz jacket.
A variety of lost property from Clarence 2012 has been found on-site. If you believe you’ve lost something and we might have it in The Big Box Of Things (serious enquiries only please folks!) then drop us a line with a description.
